Biography:

Dr. Chunying Shu is a Professor of Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry (ICCAS), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Beijing.

She was born in 1974, Shandong Province. She received her Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from CAS in 2006. From 2006 to 2009 she worked in Chemistry Department of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (USA) and School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2009, she was awarded the “Distinguished Young Scholar of ICCAS” and appointed research Professor at the ICCAS, joined the CAS Key Laboratory of Molecular Nanostructure and Nanotechnology. Since 2013, she was appointed as a Director of Division of Personnel and Education, ICCAS.

In recent years, Dr. Shu authored/co-authored more than 40 scientific papers in refereed journals (JACS, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Bioconjugate Chem., Chem. Mater., Org. Lett., CrystEngComm etc.). Her major research field includes Nano Biomedicine; Biomedical Materials; and Materials Chemistry based on carbonaceous nanomaterials, including fullerenes, endofullerenes, carbon nanotubes/horns, graphene and so on.

Research Interests:

The research is devoted to 1) imaging of nano-biomaterials, including tissue-targeting and high efficient MRI contrast agent, multimodality molecular imaging probes for the accurate diagnosis of disease, and radiolabelled probes for biodistribution study of nanomaterials; 2) multifunctional nanomaterials for the theranostics of diseases, including the application of functional carbonaceous nanomaterials in PDT and PTT, and drug-deliver system for targeting imaging and therapy.
